Things I Learned During My Court Reporting Internship: The Judge Designation

In school I was taught to write the designation for the judge as KORT/KORT. This is a great method. However, when I was interning I found that I was more comfortable using both the Q and A bank simultaneously as the designation for the judge. Although a teacher had mentioned this method before as an aside, I always stuck with KORT/KORT because this was what I was taught the earliest when I learning the foundations of my steno theory.

The fantastic court reporter I sat in with suggested using the double-bank method. This method immediately felt comfortable. It’s love how writing techniques are adjusted and fine tuned in real life situations. This is one of the many reasons I’m enjoying interning so much! #ThingsILearnedDuringMyCourtReportingInternship
