Rules Of Grammar: Cardinal Numbers & Ordinal Numbers

Cardinal numbers are considered “counting numbers,” and ordinal numbers are known as “position numbers.”

Cardinal numbers include: one, two, three, one million, etc.

Ordinal numbers end with a suffix. Ordinal numbers end with -st, -rd, -th, or -nd. Some examples of ordinal numbers are: first, second, third, one millionth, etc.
