Legal Vocabulary: Impeachment

Impeachment is defined as: (1) “The process of calling a witness’s testimony into doubt.” (2) The constitutional process whereby the House of Representatives may accuse high officers of the federal government of misconduct. These officers are then tried by the Senate.

Acquittal is “the verdict that declares one innocent of a crime.”

Exonerate is “to prove or declare a person innocent of the charges made against him or her.”

Compensatory damages are damages that awarded to the plaintiff to compensate the plaintiff for their actual lost, and nothing else.
