Appellate is defined as “having the power to review the judgment of another tribunal.” An appellant is “one that appeals from a judicial decision or decree.”

Legal Vocabulary: Peremptory Challenge

A peremptory challenge is an objection made by an attorney in regard to a potential juror sitting on the jury. There are a limited number of peremptory challenges that a party can make. This number varies by jurisdiction. No reason is required in order for an attorney to make a peremptory challenge.

Misfeasance is defined as “The wrongful performance of a normally lawful act.” Malfeasance is defined as “The performance by a public official of an act that is legally unjustified, harmful, or contrary to law.” Nonfeasance is a failure to act.
