Medical Monday: Pradaxa & Coumadin
Pradaxa is a medication that prevents the blood from clotting. It is a blood thinner that can be associated with some serious side effects. In recent years, many patients who have taken this drug have increasingly been becoming plaintiffs in lawsuits alleging the dangers of the medication. Many of the petitioning litigants in Pradaxa lawsuits, have been alleging deadly side effects, including severe internal bleeding.
Coumadin is also a anticoagulant. However, it is said to be much slower acting than Pradaxa, and is said to wear off quicker than Pradaxa. The use`of Coumadin is also said to be able to be reversed. However, reportedly, “there is no drug or blood product that will counteract the anticoagulant effect of Pradaxa.”
