Once Again, The English Dictionary Is Expanding
This week, HarperCollins publishers have announced the expansion of their Collins English Dictionary. The 12th edition of their dictionary will contain 50,000 new entries. Collins English Dictionary is described as the “world’s biggest single-volume English dictionary.” It was last updated three years ago. The addition of the 50,000 entries will bring the dictionary’s entry tally to 722,000.

New Word: Clickbait
Here’s a word has been recently added to the English lexicon:
According to Wikipedia, clickbait is defined as “web content that is aimed at generating online advertising revenue, especially at the expense of quality or accuracy, relying on sensationalist headlines to attract click-throughs and to encourage forwarding of the material over online social networks. Clickbait headlines typically aim to exploit the ‘curiosity gap,’ providing just enough information to make the reader curious, but not enough to satisfy their curiosity without clicking through to the linked content.
